Happiness is a new feature to Pokémon Gold/Silver and affects the power of some moves as well as being required for evolving some Pokémon.

  Pokemon Happiness It is a hidden number that can be influenced in a number of ways which are listed below.

Haircut Brothers

Two haircut brothers  Pokemon Happiness available in the Goldenrod Underground who show up on alternating days.

The younger brother costs 300 and the older brother costs 500. How much happiness your Pokémon gains is random but you can gauge it depending on the phrase they use:

    looks a little happy
    looks happy  for Pokemon Happiness
    looks delighted!

How much the last phrase gives you depends on the brother. As listed above, the younger brother actually gives the higher amount.

What makes it balanced is that the older brother has a higher chance of giving you than the younger brother does of giving you

After beating the Elite Four you will have access to Kanto. Gary’s brother Daisy lives in the eastern house in Pallet Town, much like she did in Red/Blue.

 If you bring a Pokémon to her between 4pm-5pm each day she will groom one of your Pokémon.
